BPI certifications workshops are conducted by the Building Performance Institute (BPI). This American organization has set certain guidelines and standards for building homes in America. The guidelines cover areas such as energy efficiency, safety, ventilation, and air quality within existing and future homes in America.
BPI certification workshops are held in various locations in America periodically. The Atlanta BPI Certification Training Institute (ABCI) is one such location. There are two kinds of courses offered – basic certification and professional certification.
Anybody can attend the basic certification course as it does not require any pre-requisite qualification. The course helps one to understand and implement methods, following which homes can be made safer, more energy efficient, eco-friendly, and more livable. One completion of this training, one becomes a BPI Certified Building Analyst.
The Atlanta BPI Certification Training Institute also conducts fast-track workshops for building professionals with prior experience. These workshops cover the basics as well as advanced technical topics, unlike in regular certification. Building professionals who can attend the fast-track workshops include Multi-family Building Analysts, Air Sealing and Dense Pack Insulation Installers, Architects, Building Contractors, and Construction Engineers.
Some professional certification courses conducted by the Atlanta BPI Certification Training Institute include BPI Building Analyst/Energy Auditor certification and BPI Envelope-Shell Training certification.
The final certification exam consists of two parts – the written or online test and the field test. Candidates are allowed to choose which test they take first. The written test usually consists of one hundred questions and lasts two hours. Both the tests have to be cleared in order to receive the final certification.
